My name is Jordan Voets, and I'm the newest member of the YieldComputer team.
I'm from Helmond-NL, and outside of work you'll usually find me behind a piano. I've been playing for fifteen years, and recently I gave myself (and my neighbours) a fresh challenge by picking up the accordion.
β
I'm not a completely new face here, though. I first came to YieldComputer as a graduation intern from Fontys ICT, and over the past months I've been getting to know my colleagues and learning more about how YieldComputer helps growers every day. So when my internship ended, staying felt like the most natural thing to do.
β
The reason is simple: this is a place where I can make a real difference for growers. During my internship I spoke with several of them, and one thing stuck with me. Growers put a lot of time and effort into sharing their cultivation data, and I believe they deserve to get just as much value back from it. Helping to make that happen is what excites me most about this role.
β
My soft spot for the green sector goes back much further than my degree. As a kid I loved building vegetable gardens with my grandfather, and on walks through the forest I tried to name every plant and animal we came across. I never studied horticulture, but that's the beauty of IT: I get to combine my profession with a world that has fascinated me since childhood.
β
In practice, you'll mostly see my work through Mr Berry: our digital colleague who keeps an eye on cultivation data day and night, and proactively lets growers know when something deserves their attention. My job is to keep building and improving him, so the data growers already share starts working for them in their day-to-day.
β
I'm really looking forward to getting to know our growers, partners and everyone working with YieldComputer.
Hopefully we'll meet soon.
See you in the field,
Jordan
